Session
Back to the Future: Fixing the Web to Save the World
Featuring JUSTIN BINGHAM, CTO, Janeiro Digital

When Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the web, he believed it was for everyone. But the promise of the web as a place of innovation and value creation is now choked by powerful forces who use it for their own agendas. Tim created Solid, an open-source project to decentralize the web and give people unprecedented control of data. Solid creates a world of opportunity, a blank slate for innovation. Its guiding principle is “personal empowerment through data” which is fundamental to the success of the next era of the web. Tim has also founded inrupt, a new startup, to foster the creation and growth of the Solid ecosystem.

Justin Bingham, CTO of Janeiro Digital, has partnered with Tim and inrupt to help realize his vision. Join Justin to discuss what went wrong with one of the most pervasive technologies ever created, and what you’ll be able to do once it’s corrected.
