It’s nearly unheard of to see a living composer conduct their own opera. At this special session at New York’s iconic Metropolitan Opera, you’ll have unique behind-the-scenes access to the final dress rehearsal of Thomas Adès’s The Exterminating Angel. Inspired by the classic Luis Buñuel film of the same name, this opera is a surreal modern-day fantasy about a dinner party from which the guests can’t escape. The Met’s general manager Peter Gelb will give a brief introduction and touch upon how embracing technology has enabled the Met to grow its audience globally—reaching and converting—more opera lovers than ever before.
