Name
What Makes An Image Iconic? Three Leading Graphic Designers on the Influence of Campaign Design
Date & Time
Wednesday, November 2, 2016, 12:20 PM - 1:00 PM
Description
Civic Hall, 156 5th Ave, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10010

Remember the Shepard Fairey-designed image of then-presidential candidate Barack Obama from 2008? It quickly became iconic, capturing the hopeful energy of his campaign. For this session, we challenged Natasha Jen of Pentagram, Carly Ayres of HAWRAF, and Bobby C. Martin of OCD to do what hasn’t been done yet for this current, most-insane-of-all-time, election season and visualize the spirit and significance of this political moment. The designers will present their posters before joining in conversation to discuss the history of campaign design and its influence, what makes an image iconic, and more.
