Date & Time

Description
The Lowline Lab, 140 Essex Street, New York, NY 10002

Stop by the Lowline Lab, where cofounders Daniel Barasch and James Ramsey have built a scaled-down version of the world’s first underground park. What started out eight years ago as a dream and a Kickstarter campaign has captured the world's imagination—and looks to become a reality by 2021. The Lowline, which will run under Delancey Street in an abandoned trolley terminal from the turn of the last century, uses new solar technologies that allow Ramsey and his team to capture sunlight and redirect it underground. Explore thousands of plants and dozens of exotic plant species as the cofounders take you through their innovative system—to create this first-of-its-kind “subterranean oasis."
