GIF-heavy listicles are awesome, but media company BuzzFeed has evolved beyond the quick, fun takes that first brought it fame. Visual entertainment is a huge deal at the company, with 13 million followers on its YouTube video offerings and a film, “Brother Orange,” in development with Warner Bros. Now, BuzzFeed Motion Pictures is bullish on television. Its first offering: the Oxygen-produced docuseries “Whatever Happened to . . . Jessica Chambers,” which is based on a BuzzFeed investigative piece. Head of development Matthew Henick will lead a talk on what the internet can teach us about watching behavior, the new show model, and what’s next for TV.
