Ravi Gurumurthy is the chief innovation officer of the International Rescue Committee, the much venerated global humanitarian aid NGO, and the founder of Airbel, the IRC’s internal innovation incubator, where it develops strategies to tackle urgent humanitarian crises with emerging technologies and new approaches. Prior to IRC, Gurumurthy worked in government in the UK, including director of strategy for the energy and climate change department, where he led efforts to reform the country’s electricity market and developed the world’s first legally binding carbon emissions targets. He also served as strategy advisor and speechwriter to the foreign secretary, David Miliband, who is now President and CEO of the IRC.
